Here, goes this is the start of the offical blogging experience! It has taken me time to get my head around this, as I am not really a blogger, but after some research and a little help from some friends, I have finally succomb and set up my own blog.

Exercise: Sensor linear capture
Take any TIFF or JPEG image and open in photoshop, Convert to 16 bit. Image > Adjustments > Curves.
Here is the original image that I used. A photo of Spinnaker Tower, taken on a bright sunny day.

The difference once the curves have been added - shows a very dark version, where the shadows have been somewhat darkened and the sky has become very dark.

Here we see the 2 screenshots, looking particularly at the histograms. As you can see histogram 1 shows a small peaked pyramid in the centre, whereas histogram 2 shows that the image is overexposed as the area of the histogram has now shifted to the left. The darkest parts of the image have been the greatest effected.
